Sara Vannini is a Lecturer at the UW Integrated Social Science Program and at the Department of Communication. Her research interests focus on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for international development and community development, in particular on public access to ICTs and social appropriation of technology, and on migrants' information practices. Her principal works so far deal with public access to ICTs in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin American and with the use of participatory photography with Hispanic Migrants in the US. She is also interested in working on e-Learning and m-Learning and instructional design in different contexts. In her research, she employs mostly qualitative and mixed methodologies, with a particular relevance to the use of participatory and visual methods.
