ISS Students Giving Back, Sharing Expertise
With the rapid and necessary switch our entire university community has made to online learning, lots of students are having to adapt to a whole new way of doing things. Here to help them (and their fellow ISS majors!) are four fabulous ISS students (Jessica Love, Gracie Pakosz, Steven Posel, and Erica Slotkin), who have been hired this quarter as Academic Success Coaches.
What is an Academic Success Coach? From the UAA Website: “Just as a sports coach pushes you to achieve your goals and holds you accountable, an academic success coach works with you to identify challenges that come up in an academic context and come up with a game plan.
Success Coaching is an interactive process that empowers students to get from where they are now to where they want to be. The Success Coach is a peer who students can visit to help build more general skills for success. Even if you aren't sure why you're struggling to meet academic goals, the Success Coach can help identify and overcome challenges to create a foundation for success in college.”
Who better to share time management tips, study strategies, goal setting ideas, and ways of maintaining motivation than seasoned ISSers who’ve learned to manage the endless juggle of personal, professional, family, and online course commitments?

(There is a text box for special requests when you schedule your one-on-one Zoom appointment—you can request to work with an ISS student (or a specific ISS student) when you schedule your online meeting!)
Congratulations to Jessica, Gracie, Steven, and Erica!
