Congratulations to ISS student Jeremiah Cruz, recipient of a 2023 Osher Reentry Scholarship. The Osher Reentry Scholarship is for newly matriculated and returning students who have experienced a 5-year cumulative gap in their education. Jeremiah joined the Autumn 2022 ISS cohort after a 19-year gap in his educational journey, and finished his first quarter back in school with straight As.

Jeremiah shares, "Being awarded the Osher Reentry Scholarship means a lot of things to me. It recognizes the hard work I have put in since coming back to the University of Washington. It also gives me a lot of pride to show that people in my situation can go back to school and complete their degree. The ISS program and all of its dedicated hard-working people have been nothing short of amazing. I especially want to thank Holly Arsenault for her guidance and encouragement, Mel Wensel for being a wonderful advisor, and Professor Daro Minarchek for her wonderful lessons in class and way of teaching. I also want to thank my wife Ana, my parents Alejandro and Leory for their guidance and encouragement including the rest of my family for their never ending support."
