The ISS Peer Support Program (PSP) Looks Ahead to its Second Year

Wrapping up a successful first year, the ISS Peer Support Program (PSP) prepares for a new year of expanding support through peer-to-peer connection, encouragement, and information sharing. PSP aims to empower ISSers to engage their peers as a resource for flourishing in college and navigating barriers to academic achievement. The program serves all active ISS students, while placing an emphasis on looping in first-quarter students into peer support networks as they enter ISS.

Three outstanding ISS seniors—Emillie Lopez, Kayla Balassone, and Dunia Jonas Wabenga—stepped forward to serve as our first cohort of Peer Support Leaders for the 2024-2025 academic year. In these leadership roles, Emillie, Kayla, and Jonas organized quarterly Zoom events, started a Slack channel for ISS majors, and built out numerous spaces and resources where they and other ISSers could pass along their knowledge as experienced ISS students.

As we look ahead to another year of student-driven community building and support, ISS is recruiting three new Peer Support Leaders for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. In addition to supporting and encouraging others, being a Peer Leader is a wonderful way to forge new friendships and to expand your own social, professional, and support network. If you are interested in becoming a Peer Support Leader, you can learn more about eligibility and how to apply here.
