After serving for many years in the UW School of Social Work, I am thrilled to be the Assistant Director of the UW’s Integrated Social Sciences BA program! For the past 25 years my student services and social work practice has centered on supporting undergraduate and graduate students to thrive and successfully complete their degree programs, developing and nurturing relationships with community partners and serving and supporting the communities with whom I am involved including, BIPOC students, faculty and staff, multiracial folx and transracial/interracial adoptees. In addition, I have also been an engaged volunteer and participant in local and regional organizations serving children, youth, older adults, adoptees and their families, and, of course, students in higher education.
I began my career working part time with youth in a crisis-residential setting and serving as a Resident Director at Western Washington University (WWU). I continued to work with young adults in employment programs, independent living for teens aging out of foster care, and in supporting higher education access for people on the margins. I have also been a part of several institutions including UW, WWU, Whatcom Community College, Green River College, and the Art Institute of Seattle.
I feel truly honored to have a career that allows me to live out my passion of honoring every person's story and to be in service to them as they find their own paths. I can't wait to hear more about where you have been, where you are now and where you want to go. I look forward to partnering with you on your academic and career journey!
