As a first-generation college graduate, my educational pathway had many twists and turns. Born and raised in Southern CA, my family abruptly moved to AZ during my freshman year of high school. This move radically changed my educational plans, as I decided to attend college in AZ instead of CA. I received all three of my degrees from the University of Arizona, all while working multiple student jobs to strengthen my professional skillset. Completing two master’s programs was unusual, but these programs created space for me to define myself as a person. The extensive educational journey through Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, and Higher Education allowed me to serve in a myriad of student facing roles. These programs and student positions allowed me to discover my interests in higher education access, disability rights, and advocacy work for marginalized communities. A college education changed every facet of my life, so my work grounds itself in helping others access these life changing opportunities.
After many, many years in the hot Arizona desert, I could literally no longer take the heat. Seeking the comforts of a gentler climate and plants that didn’t have spikes on them, I landed in Bothell, WA in 2021. It was there I began working at the University of Washington Bothell as an Admissions Adviser/Recruiter. During those three years, I was able to connect with and advise thousands of students. Meeting students from all walks of life was incredibly fulfilling, so I’m looking forward to being a resource for prospective ISS students!
